A 36-year-old Guelph man was arrested on Friday after DNA evidence found in the recovered stolen vehicle was allegedly identified as his.

A police officer on patrol discovered what turned out to be a stolen 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck on Feb. 19. It had been reported stolen several days prior from an address “outside the city,” explains a Guelph police news release.

Evidence collected from inside the truck was sent to the Centre for Forensic Sciences, where the DNA was determined to be from someone on the national DNA data bank.

As a result, a Guelph man was arrested on Friday and charged with being an occupant in a stolen vehicle.
