Two Guelph men were arrested Tuesday after DNA testing linked them to unrelated stolen vehicles, say Guelph police.

On Dec. 6, a stolen Hyundai Accent was located in a parking lot on Willow Road. Evidence seized from inside the vehicle was sent to the Centre of Forensic Science for testing and found to match a man on the national DNA data bank.

On Tuesday police observed the man walking near Willow West Mall and placed him under arrest. A 31-year-old Guelph man is charged with occupying a stolen motor vehicle and breaching probation.

In an unrelated investigation, Guelph police recovered a stolen Jeep Wrangler from a parking lot on Woodlawn Road West April 26, 2022. Inside officers located a large amount of suspected fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine valued at approximately $17,000.

Evidence located inside the Jeep was sent to the Centre of Forensic Science and found to match a male on the national DNA data bank.

On Tuesday a Guelph man was arrested and charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000, being an occupant in a stolen motor vehicle and two counts of possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking.
