Downtown bike patrol makes drug bust

Fentanyl, crystal meth, cash all confiscated during the arrest

The Guelph police bike patrol seized several thousand dollars worth of drugs and cash Wednesday when they arrested a 57-year-old man.

The Guelph man was charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and five counts of failing to comply with release order.

Police report the Guelph Police Service High Enforcement Action Team were conducting proactive bike patrol in the downtown core when they observed a male arrested last August and later released standing outside a motor vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the male was not in the presence of one of his sureties and had just exited the vehicle. He was subsequently arrested.

The male was on a release order that contained numerous conditions including remain in your residence at all times (24 hours a day, seven days a week) except in the presence of a surety.

A search of the male and the vehicle incident to arrest revealed numerous items including:
- 34.91 grams of crystal methamphetamine ($2,792 value)
- 12.45 grams of red fentanyl ($3,735 value)
- 50 tabs of oxymetholone ($150 value)
- 16ml of testosterone enanthate ($320 value)
- 4 tabs of m. amphet salts 20mg, amphetamine and dextroamphetamine ($40 value)
- Digital scale
- Drug packaging material
- Numerous cellphones
- $9,311.05 in Canadian currency

He was held for a bail hearing Thursday.
