A Toronto man faces charges after damaging a downtown Guelph patio and then reportedly providing a fake name Wednesday.

Just before noon two men were involved in a physical altercation in front of a downtown business. As officers approached one of the men fled on foot, breaking several wooden boards on a patio as he did so. He was apprehended a short distance away and arrested for mischief.

He provided a false name and date of birth and was transported to the police station for further investigation. He later provided his true identity.

An 18-year-old Toronto man is charged with mischief under $5,000 and obstruct police.
