Driver airlifted with 'life-threatening' injuries following Wellington Road collision

TOWNSHIP OF NORTH WELLINGTON - On Wednesday March 6, 2019, just after midnight, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police along with Wellington North Fire Service and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Service responded to a head-on collision involving a tractor trailer and a sport utility vehicle on Wellington Road 109 and Side Road 16 A near Arthur.

The male driver of the SUV was transported by land ambulance to a local hospital and subsequently airlifted to a trauma centre in stable condition with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the transport truck was uninjured.

The cause of the collision is currently being investigated by OPP Technical Collision Investigators. Wellington Road 109 is closed between Wellington Road 12 and Wellington Road 11 and will remain closed until further notice. The Ministry of Environment has been notified and will be attending due to diesel fuel leak.
