TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH – On Nov. 1, 2020 at approximately 1:30 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a fail to remain motor vehicle collision on Hwy 6 in Puslinch Township.
Officers attended the scene and observed rear-end damage to a motor vehicle and a blue front-end bumper with the licence plate attached laying on the ground. Police were advised that the suspect vehicle fled the scene southbound on Highway 6.
At the same time police received a 911 call regarding a single motor vehicle collision on Hwy 6 and Concession 14 and the vehicle matched the suspect vehicle's description.
Police located the motor vehicle and while speaking with the driver determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
Jason Singh Sodhi, 21-years-old of Carlisle has been charged with impaired operation, impaired operation - 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) and fail to stop at accident scene contrary to the Criminal Code.
A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on Nov. 27, 2020 to answer to the charges.
If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
