Driver charged with impaired following Puslinch traffic stop

Brantford man also faces cannabis-related and speeding charges

TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH - On Nov. 1, 2020 at approximately 1:30 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop of a passenger vehicle on Lake Road in Puslinch Township.

Police spoke with the driver and formed the opinion that they had alcohol in their system. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Joseph Christopher Hodgkinson, 30 years old of Brantford, has been charged with impaired operation - 80 plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code, driving a motor vehicle with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act, and speeding contrary to the Highway traffic Act.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Nov. 24, 2020.
