Guelph police are seeking witnesses or security video after a man claimed he crashed his car early Friday while being chased by another motorist, police report.

Approximately 12:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to a collision near the intersection of Speedvale Avenue East and Stevenson Street North. The driver of a silver Dodge Nitro SUV told police he was approached by a man earlier while driving on Woolwich Street. He said the man approached his vehicle and began hitting the window and yelling at him.

The driver said he was afraid and fled eastbound on Speedvale Avenue while being chased by the other vehicle, described as a grey Dodge Charger. The driver of the Nitro said he lost control while turning onto Stevenson Street North and that the Charger stopped briefly before fleeing.

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw anything or anyone along that route who has security footage between 12:30 a.m. and 12:45 a.m. Friday. Officers would also like to speak to the driver of the grey Charger.
