Driver doing donuts in an Elora parking lot gets charged with impaired

A witness reported the vehicle, and when officers responded they determined the driver was impaired

On Saturday March 16, 2019 at approximately 10:20 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle doing donuts in a parking lot on the First Line in Elora.

Officers located the vehicle and while speaking with the male driver determined that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Gordon Holwerda, 27-years-old of Fergus has been charged with Impaired Operation - 80 Plus and Impaired Operation. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment were initiated as per statute.

He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on April 16, 2019 to answer to his charges.  

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
