Driver from Orangeville clocked in excess of 140 km/h in an 80 near Arthur

On Nov. 3, 2020 at approximately 10:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Wellington Road 109 east of Arthur.

The officer observed a white passenger vehicle travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h.

As a result, Arvin James Leonzon, 37-year-old resident of Orangeville, has been charged with racing a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice - Provincial Offences Court on April 7, 2021.

Their vehicle and driver's licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
