NEWS RELEASE
ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE
*************************
On June 29, 2019, at approximately 11 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway in the city of Guelph.

The officer observed a multi-colour sedan fail to slow and proceed with caution around a stopped emergency vehicle which had its emergency lights activated. The sedan was stopped and the driver was issued a Provincial Offence Notice.

As the officer was concluding the traffic stop, the driver of the sedan 'punched' the gas causing the tires of the sedan to spin and lose traction with the ground throwing gravel in the air and leaving tire ruts in the shoulder.

The sedan was stopped once again and Navraj Singh Jassal, 25 years old of Guelph, received an additional charge of Race a Motor Vehicle - Stunt Driving.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Sept. 4, 2019 and their driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
