Dumpster fire spreads to business

Police and fire officials say there was $100,000 in damage to the exterior of the business

Guelph police and Guelph Fire Department are investigating after a dumpster fire Monday afternoon spread to a nearby business.

Approximately 2:35 p.m., a 911 call was received from the manager of a business located on Woodlawn Road West near Woolwich Street reporting a large dumpster fire behind the business. The fire spread to the exterior wall of the business with flames approximately 10 metres high. The fire was extinguished by the Guelph Fire Department before any interior damage was sustained.

No injuries were reported. Damage to the building is estimated at $100,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
