Erratic driving leads to drug charges

On March 14, 2018 at approximately 8:40 a.m., a concerned citizen contacted the Guelph Police Service to report a possible impaired driver. The female driver was allegedly falling asleep at the wheel at times, bouncing off curbs and swerving when in motion. Police were able to stop this vehicle/driver near the intersection of College Avenue West and the Hanlon Expressway. 

The driver was arrested and charged for impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug, along with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance. The drugs seized have a street value of approximately $2,500. Thankfully, there were no injuries/accidents during this incident.

The 45-year-old female from Guelph-Eramosa Township was held for a bail hearing.
