CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018 at approximately 3:05 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of an erratic driver travelling eastbound on Side Road 4 and was last observed northbound on Highway 6 in Centre Wellington Township. The vehicle was described as a grey pick-up truck pulling an overloaded trailer full of pumpkins and had entered into the oncoming lane forcing other vehicles off the road.

Police observed the vehicle and directed it into a parking lot just as it entered into Fergus. Police spoke with the driver and determined that he had consumed alcohol. A roadside screening device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Forty-five-year-old John Sinclair of Pilkington Township has been charged with impaired driving and over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Sept. 28, 2018 to answer to his charges.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as per statute.
