A Guelph teen got an expensive lesson after a prank went wrong Wednesday night, Guelph police report.
Approximately 10 p.m. officers were called to a home on Kortright Road. Investigation revealed four youths were riding their bikes when they stopped and one of them picked up a lawn ornament and threw it at a house. The ornament broke and also smashed a window, causing approximately $1,500 in damage.
The responsible youth was identified and spoken to in the presence of his parents. Officers used their discretion and did not lay a criminal charge, but instead the 16-year-old must pay for the damage and complete a diversion program.
