A Guelph man faces charges after a food delivery car was stolen Wednesday evening and involved in a hit and run, Guelph police report.

Just before 8 p.m. police were called to Wellington Street East near Gordon Street. A delivery driver had his vehicle stolen while he was picking up a food order. The suspect drove erratically, causing several other motorists to take evasive action, before colliding with another vehicle nearby.

The vehicle was abandoned but officers located the suspect a short distance away and arrested him. A 32-year-old man is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to remain at a collision and breaching several court orders. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday.
