Four arrested after off-duty Guelph Police officer calls in report of suspicious activity

On Nov. 9, 2019, an off-duty Guelph Police officer observed a rental truck backed into a closed hotel in the south end. This particular hotel has been subject to several break and enters as of late. 

The off-duty asked for assistance and several officers arrived. Four individuals were found to be in the hotel and are alleged to have been in the middle of stealing copper piping.

As a result of the investigation a 37-year-old male, 58-year-old male, 31-year-old male and a 24-year-old female, all from Guelph, were arrested and charged with break and enter and possessing break-in instruments.

Investigation further revealed the 37-year-old male was in possession of, what is believed to be cocaine and methamphetamine. He was further charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
