Four drivers accused of travelling 50 km/h or more over speed limit

On July 25, 2019 at approximately 10 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Wellington Road 7 near the Fourth Line in the Township of Centre Wellington. The officer observed a black motor vehicle travelling southbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h. The driver was also in possession of multiple driver's licenses.

Travis Robitaille, 25-years-old of Harriston has been charged with race a motor vehicle and possess more than one licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Oct. 2, 2019. The driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

On July 27, 2019 at approximately 11 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar while travelling on Highway 6 near Bedford Road. The officer observed a black motor vehicle travelling southbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 50 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 110 km/h.

Junior Anthony James, 44-years-old of Pickering has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Oct. 2, 2019. The driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

On July 27, 2019 at approximately 6:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 near the Second Line. The officer observed a black sedan travelling northbound, tailgating the vehicle in front of it until it made an abrupt lane change and accelerate by it at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

Jacob Buckley, 22-years-old of Selwyn Township has been charged with race a motor vehicle and follow to close contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Oct. 2, 2019. The driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

On July 25, 2019 at approximately 10:35 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police  officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Wellington Road 7 near the Sixth Line in the Township of Centre Wellington. The officer observed a red coupe travelling southbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 155 km/h.

Travis Gordon, 24-years-old of Guelph has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Oct. 2, 2019. The driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
