Guelph Police were involved in 257 incidents over the past 24 hours

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Break and enter
On Jan. 24, 2019, the Guelph Police investigated break and enter at a Hood Street residence. Investigation determined that the side door had been forced open sometime during the daytime. A theft of jewelry, $400 in cash, portable hard drives and several SD cards is reported.

Stolen car flees from police
On Jan. 24, 2019 at approximately 8:30 p.m., police attempted to stop a vehicle near the intersection of London Road West and Edinburgh Road North. The vehicle fled from the officer. Police did not pursue the vehicle for public safety. The vehicle is described as a black 2017 Honda Fit.

University Campus Police make arrest
On Jan. 25, 2019, the University of Guelph Campus Police investigated an altercation on campus. One male was seen punching a window. The male was arrested and brought to the hospital to tend to his injuries and later transported back to the Guelph Police Service station.

An 18-year-old male has been charged with mischief under $5,000 and person under 19 years consume alcohol. He will be released with a court date of Feb. 26, 2019.
