Working in conjunction with security staff at the mall, a male and female were identified and seen fleeing the area on foot

The following is a news release issued by the Guelph Police Service:

On the morning of Oct.12, a College Avenue resident reported that her wallet was taken from her vehicle sometime overnight. When the resident contacted the credit card company to report the theft of a card in the wallet, she was advised that the card was currently being used at different stores in the Stone Road mall.

Working in conjunction with security staff at the mall, a male and female were identified and seen fleeing the area on foot. Police searched the area and located both parties.

A 15-year-old female and 16-year-old male, both from Guelph, were charged with possession of stolen property, possession of identity documents, identity fraud and obtain credit by fraud. They were later released and will appear in court at a later date.

Over the course of the day on Oct. 12, 2017 the Guelph Police Service responded to 228 calls for service.
