Golf cart driver charged after passenger ends up in hospital

On Oct. 2, 2021, at approximately 11:15 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an injured person on Elgin Street, Fergus. Initial reports indicated that a passenger on a golf cart had been ejected and was being transported to a local hospital by paramedics.

OPP responded and while speaking with the driver formed the opinion that the operator was impaired by alcohol. Police made a demand for a breath sample and attempted to conduct a Roadside Screening test with the operator, however they refused.

As a result of the investigation, Logan Alexander Orobono, 29-years-old of Fergus has been charged with failure to comply with a demand for breath and failing to stop after an accident. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on Nov. 5, 2021.
