NORTH DUMFRIES TWSP. – A 12-year-old Guelph boy who was a passenger in a mini-van died Sunday afternoon in a three vehicle collision.
The incident happened just south of Cambridge around 4:30 p.m.
Waterloo Regional Police report that emergency services responded to Spragues Road and Shouldice Side Road in North Dumfries Township for a collision involving three vehicles.
A 2010 Honda van, being operated by a 43-year-old Guelph woman with four occupants, was travelling east on Spragues Road when it was struck by a 2018 Toyota RAV4, which was being operated by a 17-year-old Cambridge male travelling north on Shouldice Side Road.
Shortly after the two vehicles collided, a 2020 Land Rover, being operated by a 56-year-old Cambridge male, collided with the two vehicles at the intersection.
As a result of the collision, three occupants within the Honda van and the driver of the Toyota were transported to hospital.
Despite officer's attempts at life-saving measures, a 12-year-old male passenger in the Honda was pronounced deceased at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
The investigation remains ongoing.
