Guelph male arrested after going on rampage with baseball bat

Police say the male smashed several windows and a glass door over a personal matter

A Guelph male faces assault and weapons charges after a rampage at a downtown business Friday afternoon, report Guelph police.

They say that at approximately 3 p.m. Friday, a male armed with a baseball bat went to a business in the area of Macdonell Street and Wilson Street to confront an employee over a personal matter.

He smashed several exterior windows and a glass door, then entered the business and used the bat to cause more damage. He approached the employee while holding the bat as if he was going to swing it before leaving the business. There were no physical injuries reported.

The male was located a short distance away and arrested. A 24-year-old Guelph male is charged with mischief over $5,000, assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He will appear in a Guelph court Dec. 31.
