Guelph man accused of taking booze, riding in stolen vehicle

[It is alleged that] on Jan. 6, 2020 at 6:30 p.m., an adult male was observed shoplifting four bottles of alcohol valued at $204.10 from a store located near the intersection of Wellington Street West and Gordon Street in the City of Guelph. He then left the store before he could be stopped.

On Jan. 18, 2020, the Guelph Police Service located an unoccupied stolen motor vehicle in a commercial parking lot located near the intersection of Wellington Street West and Imperial Road South in the City of Guelph. Through video surveillance from a nearby business, police were able to identify the passenger observed exiting the vehicle as the same male involved in the above mentioned theft.

On Jan. 22, 2020 at 2:55 p.m., police located the male in the downtown core of the City of Guelph and he was subsequently arrested.

A 31-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
    •    Occupant in stolen motor vehicle
    •    Theft under $5,000
    •    Breach of probation x4

He will appear in court on March 3, 2020.
