Guelph man arrested in car theft investigation

Guelph Police made an arrest Tuesday in a week-old car theft case from Halton Hills.

The car was taken on Nov. 3.

At 5:30 a.m., a man was observed driving the vehicle in a commercial parking lot located near the intersection of York Road and Elizabeth Street, police report.

Police later recovered the vehicle unoccupied near the intersection of Imperial Road North and Speedvale Avenue West.

Further investigation revealed that the man is on multiple court orders prohibiting him from driving.

On Tuesday at 1:20 p.m., police observed the man in the lobby of a residential building located in the downtown core. He was subsequently arrested.

A 23-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Operate motor vehicle while prohibited x3
- Breach probation x3
- Fail to comply with undertaking

He will appear in court on Feb. 26.
