Guelph woman charged with impaired, racing

Police report that the driver entered radar in excess of 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone
speeding highway

On Sept. 2, 2019 at approximately 1:10 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph when they investigated the driver of a sedan that entered radar in excess of 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

Officers detected the strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver's breath and a roadside screening device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Delainie Betts, 37-years-old of Guelph has been charged with operation while impaired - 80 plus contrary to the Criminal Code and racing contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The accused will appear in Guelph Criminal Court on October 8, 2019 to answer to the charges.
