Guelph man faces drinking and driving charges after RIDE stop

A 90-day driver's license suspension and seven-day vehicle impound were added to criminal charges

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERMAOSA - On May 20, 2017 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on Highway 6 near Wellington Road 7, Township of Guelph/Eramosa. 

At approximately 11 p.m., the driver of a 2005 Ford Taurus entered the R.I.D.E. check.

While speaking with the male driver the officer formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Fifty-five-year-old Frank Breese of Guelph has been charged with driving with over 80 contrary to the Criminal Code and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on June 13, 2017. A 90-day administrative driver's license suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as per statute.
