Guelph man faces gun and drug charges

Searches of man's vehicle and residence revealed a gun, drugs and cash.

A Guelph man is facing multiple charges after a loaded gun and large amounts of drugs and cash were found during an investigation. 

Members of the Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft (BEAT) Unit began an investigation into a Guelph man earlier this summer, police report, and on Wednesday a suspect was arrested after leaving his residence in the area of Silvercreek Parkway North and Willow Road.

Officials said searches of the man's vehicle and residence revealed approximately $20,000 worth of suspected fentanyl, $10,000 in suspected cocaine, a loaded 9-mm Ruger semi-automatic handgun with nearly 500 rounds of ammunition, a machete and approximately $20,000 in cash.

As a result, a 36-year-old man faces charges including two counts of possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking and several weapons charges.

He was held for a bail hearing Thursday.
