Guelph man found in compound after vehicles entered, say police

Police seized several items, including an axe and cut copper wire, after arresting a man spotted on video surveillance entering vehicles inside a gated compound.

The incident happened shortly before 8 a.m. on Sunday in the area of Woodlawn Road West and Governor’s Road.

Officers arrived to find a suspect inside the compound. He was arrested, with a subsequent search revealing a knife, club, cut copper wire and tools, including a crowbar, axe and screwdriver.

A 52-year-old Guelph man is charged with breaking and entering, possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose, possessing break-in instruments and carrying a concealed weapon.
