The province's Special Investigations Unit has cleared Guelph police officers of any wrongdoing after a man fractured his heel trying to evade arrest last month.

The SIU said officers were called to the home of a man's ex-girlfriend Sept. 14.

They said the 27-year-old man was at the house, and was violating the terms of his release on bail.

"When officers arrived, the man jumped from a rear second-floor window to avoid arrest and suffered the serious injury," the SIU said in a news release.

SIU director Joseph Marino said the officers had nothing to do with the injury, thus there's nothing to investigate in terms of any criminal liability of them and the investigation should be discontinued.
