Guelph police are investigating after glass doors were smashed to gain entry to two businesses early Wednesday. It is not known if the two are related.
Approximately 7:20 a.m., a City of Guelph employee called police after locating a smashed glass door at a business near Quebec and Baker streets. Officers entered the business and discovered a glass display case inside had also been smashed with a rock.
Approximately $1,250 worth of product was stolen, while damages are estimated at $2,000.
Approximately 30 minutes after that incident was reported, police were alerted to a break-in at a business on Silvercreek Parkway North near Willow Road. Again the glass front door had been smashed to gain entry. Approximately $800 in merchandise was removed from unlocked display cabinets and the damage is estimated at $300.
The incidents remain under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Guelph police at 519-824-1212, leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
