A Guelph male who was wanted on outstanding warrants was arrested Monday and faces several charges.

Guelph police spotted the male at approximately 3:30 p.m. inside a business on Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue West.

Last August, the male picked up a wallet dropped by another shopper inside a local business and later used one of the credit cards inside to make approximately $100 worth of purchases. He was identified by surveillance video but could not be located at the time.

In November, the same male responded to an online ad from someone selling a used cellphone. He arranged to meet the seller and sent an e-transfer in advance to cover the purchase price, but once he had the phone he cancelled the transfer.

Investigation revealed the male also failed to comply with the Provincial Sex Offence Registry (SOR) by not registering with police.

A 56-year-old male is charged with possessing a stolen credit card, using a stolen credit card, possessing identity documents, fraud under $5,000 and failing to comply with the SOR. He will appear in a Guelph court Aug. 24.
