Guelph woman accused of setting hotel couch on fire

A Guelph woman faces an arson charge after a fire Friday at a local hotel.

Emergency personnel were dispatched just after 3 a.m. Friday to a hotel in the area of Silvercreek Parkway North and Woodlawn Road West. A couch in one of the rooms had been on fire but was quickly extinguished by staff, police report.

An investigation by the Guelph Fire Department determined the fire was intentionally set.

A 60-year-old Guelph female was located later Friday morning and has been charged with arson.
