A Guelph woman faces drug and weapons charges after she was arrested Sunday on an outstanding warrant.

Approximately 10:30 a.m., Guelph police were on routine patrol downtown when they spotted a woman known to be wanted for failing to appear in court. The woman was placed under arrest and as she was removing her backpack officers observed a large knife sticking out of one of the pockets.

A search incident to arrest revealed two more knives, drug paraphernalia and approximately $1,000 worth of suspected fentanyl separated into various packages.

A 26-year-old woman is further charged with possessing weapons for a dangerous purpose, three counts of possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of breaching probation, three counts of failing to comply with a release order and failing to appear in court. She was held for a bail hearing Monday.
