Guelph woman seriously injured in multi-car collision Thursday

A total of seven vehicles were involved in the collisions in the intersection of Victoria Road South and York Road on Thursday afternoon.

A Guelph female underwent surgery in a Hamilton trauma centre following a series of collisions Thursday afternoon.

Approximately 4:25 p.m. the Guelph police were called to the intersection of Victoria Road South and York Road. Investigation revealed an SUV northbound on Victoria Road had collided with two other vehicles before colliding with a stopped Mazda near the intersection, causing the Mazda to collide with a number of other vehicles. A total of seven vehicles were involved in the collisions.

A 46-year-old Guelph female, who was driving the Mazda, was transported to Hamilton. Her injuries are serious but not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the SUV, a 37-year-old Guelph male, was transported to Guelph General Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. There were no other injuries reported.

Victoria Road South was closed for more than three hours while members of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit and Forensic Identification Unit investigated and documented the scene.
