A Guelph male faces weapons charges after he was found smoking inside a downtown business Tuesday afternoon.

Approximately 5:45 p.m., police were called by staff of the business. The male was inside the business, from which he has been banned, and was smoking and consuming alcohol. Officers viewed video surveillance to confirm the allegations, and approximately two hours later located the male at another address downtown.

The male denied having any weapons, but a search incident to arrest revealed two folding knives and a hammer hidden inside his pants.

A 28-year-old Guelph male is charged with three counts of carrying a concealed weapon, four counts of breaching probation and several Provincial Offences related to smoking and consuming alcohol while prohibited. He will appear in a Guelph court April 6.
