Highway Traffic Act Violation leads to impaired driving charge

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH - On Sept. 27, 2019, at approximately 10 p.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a driver of a blue sedan on Main Street South in the Town of Mount Forest. The officer stopped the driver after the driver had violated the Highway Traffic Act.

Officers formed the opinion that the driver was under the influence of alcohol after speaking with them. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Bradley Martin, 40 years old of Alliston has been charged with Impaired Operation - 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood), Driving While Under Suspension and Driving with an Open Container of Liquor.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario court of justice on Nov. 11, 2019.
