Home ransacked while owners were asleep

Guelph police are investigating after a home just outside the downtown core was entered early Thursday morning while the owners were sleeping.

Police were called approximately 5:20 a.m. to a home in the area of Northumberland Street and Glasgow Street North. The homeowners had been awakened by the sound of someone in the home and saw a light turning on. When they went to investigate they found the front room ransacked and a rear door ajar.

Police cleared the home and searched the area but the subject or subjects were not located. Personal property not belonging to the homeowners was recovered on scene. Property including cellphones, a laptop computer, wallets and keys were reported missing from the home.
