Human remains found in Royal City Park Wednesday

Police forensics unit on scene as investigation underway at park between Gordon Street and the LCBO plaza on Wellington Street

A section of Royal City Park just south of downtown is taped off as Guelph police conduct an investigation after human remains were found Wednesday afternoon.

Police spokesperson Scott Tracey said a call came in around 4:10 p.m. after someone found remains in some bushes in the park just south of the LCBO parking lot.

Several police units are on scene, including a forensics van.

Gordon Street remains open, as does the LCBO parking lot.
