A Guelph man was charged with impaired driving following a traffic stop Saturday night.
Approximately 11 p.m. police observed a vehicle leaving a licensed establishment on Silvercreek Parkway South and conducted a traffic stop. They detected an odour of alcoholic beverage from within the vehicle and asked the driver to provide a breath sample into a roadside device, resulting in a fail.
He was transported to the police station, where further testing confirmed he had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system. A 31-year-old was charged with impaired operation. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
