A Guelph male who handed over his vehicle’s owner’s manual when asked for the ownership has been charged with impaired driving.

Just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, the Guelph police were alerted to an erratic driver in the area of Silvercreek Parkway North and Greengate Road and located the vehicle stopped in a plaza parking lot.

Officers could see a can in the cup holder and when asked the male replied that it was a beer. He had an odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath and was unable to locate appropriate paperwork when asked for it. The male was arrested after failing a roadside screening test and returned to the police station, where further testing confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

A 43-year-old Guelph male is charged with impaired driving. His driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
