Impaired charge laid after police observe driver leaving bar

A Guelph man is charged with impaired driving after an officer observed him leaving a licensed establishment Monday evening.

Approximately 8:45 p.m., an officer saw a male entering his vehicle outside a business on Woodlawn Road East. A traffic stop was conducted a short distance away and alcohol could be detected on the driver’s breath. He failed a roadside breath test and was transported to the police station, where further testing confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

A 59-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired operation. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
