Kitchener man arrested in Guelph shortly after being released on bail

Already facing theft charges, suspect is accused of driving vehicle with stolen plates and validation sticker

On March 9, 2019 at 11:15 a.m. the Guelph Police went to the Walmart located on Woodlawn Road to deal with a shoplifting incident. The arrested male had (allegedly) stolen $554.12 worth of hockey cards. The male was also breaching two conditions of his probation order. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on March 10, 2019.

On March 10, 2019, the male was released on bail and at 11:15 a.m. the male was then located driving a motor vehicle out of the Walmart parking lot. A traffic stop was conducted near Nicklin Road. Investigation discovered that the plates on the motor vehicle had been reported missing out of Waterloo and the validation sticker was reported stolen. The male was also a suspended driver. The man was arrested again.

Between the two incidents, the 45-year-old Kitchener man has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, fail to comply with undertaking and four counts of breach of probation. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with drive while under suspension and use plates not authorized for motor vehicle. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on March 11, 2019.
