Guelph police are investigating after two males cleaned out the coin box of a laundry machine at a city apartment building.

Police were called Thursday afternoon to an address on Speedvale Avenue West near Edinburgh Road North where the owner of the building was reporting the burglary.

Security video revealed two males entered the laundry room about 5:20 a.m. Wednesday and angled the cameras toward the ceiling. The building owner discovered one of the coin boxes had been forced open. A small amount of change was stolen, but damage to the machine is estimated at $300.

Both suspects are described as Caucasian males. One was wearing a dark winter jacket with fur hood, black hoodie, blue jeans, blue face mask, blue gloves and was carrying a pry bar. The second was wearing a red or burgundy Adidas jacket with a grey hood, grey track pants, a grey baseball cap, grey face mask and black gloves.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Const. Johnpaul Hobbs at 519-824-1212, ext. 7540, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous tip for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
