TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - Yesterday at approximately 10:20 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a small barn fire located on 6428 Wellington Road 26, Township of Centre Wellington. Centre Wellington Fire Department was on scene.
Workers arrived at the barn at approximately 10 p.m. to check on the chickens as part of the nightly routine. They entered into the electrical room and noticed smoke coming from within.
It is believed that the fire was caused days prior by a lightning strike to the barn which caused the barn to smoulder slowly and eventually lead to smoking last night. Damage amount is unknown, however no chickens perished.
