A driver and business were charged after part of a load fell off a flatbed in Guelph Wednesday.

A truck driver and his employer face charges after a heavy load fell off a truck Tuesday morning.

Approximately 9:25 a.m. a truck was turning onto Wellington Street West from the Hanlon Expressway. During the turn, a load weighing more than 6,600 kilograms broke free and fell onto the road, police report, causing no injuries but leaving several deep gouges in the asphalt.

The driver, a 60-year-old Durham Region man, is charged with driving with an insecure load and failing to secure a load in accordance with regulations.

A Durham Region company is charged with permitting a commercial motor vehicle to operate with an insecure load.
