Male arrested after police say resident saw him going through neighbour's car

A Guelph male faces several charges after two parties were observed going through vehicles early Monday morning.

A resident of Louisa Drive called police just after 4 a.m. to report someone opening and then entering their neighbour’s vehicle. Guelph Police Service officers attended and located a male and female walking in the area. They were arrested on suspicion of theft under $5,000.

During a search incident to arrest, the male was found to be in possession of several banking and credit cards in various names as well as small amounts of suspected fentanyl and Oxycodone.

A 43-year-old Guelph male is charged with possessing stolen property, three counts of possessing a credit card, two counts of possessing controlled substances and breach of probation. He will appear in a Guelph court March 29, 2022. The female was released without being charged.
