Male reportedly attacked on path by known assailants

Police say Guelph male was arrested Wednesday morning after another male was reportedly attacked while walking on a path.

Approximately 4 a.m. Wednesday, police were dispatched to a path off Speedvale Avenue East near Woolwich Street. A male advised he was walking with a female when they were approached by two other males known to the victim.

The victim was allegedly repeatedly punched and kicked and reported the males threatened to shoot him, though no weapon was seen. The victim was able to get away and call police.

Approximately an hour later, one of the males was located downtown and arrested.

A 30-year-old Guelph male is charged with assault and uttering death threats. He will appear in a Guelph court Dec. 21.

Police are still searching for the second involved male.
