Man accused of brandishing knife at apartment complex

On May 23, 2020, at approximately 12:44 p.m., Guelph Police responded to the report of a male brandishing a knife at an apartment complex on Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue in the City of Guelph. 

An unknown male approached the exterior door of an apartment unit and began banging on the door while holding a knife in his left hand. The male appeared to be looking for a person not known to the resident. The male then left that area and attended to the front entrance of the complex and entered into a washroom where he plugged the toilet and stabbed the walls causing damage.

Guelph Police located the male inside the washroom and placed him under arrest.

The 46-year-old Guelph man has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief under $5,000 and failure to comply with a judicial release order. The male was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
