Man accused of driving more than 49 km/h over speed limit

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Saturday, March 2, 2019 at approximately 9:21 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was travelling northbound on Wellington Road 7 and monitoring traffic. The officer observed a black coupe travelling northbound in front of the police vehicle at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

The officer paced the vehicle in a 60 km and 80 km/h zone and the vehicle was consistently travelling at a speed greater than 49 km/h over the posted speed limit.

David Moore, 21-year-old of Nichol Township, has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on April 17, 2019. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
